Cataracts are the clouding of the natural lens of the eye. It usually occurs as the result of aging, but anyone can develop a cataract. Individuals with diabetes and those who take steroid medications are also at risk for developing cataracts. Babies can even be born with them.

Individuals with cataracts often notice a change in their vision. The most common symptoms include blurry, hazy vision, and glare or halos around lights, especially at night.
